The Statewide
Parent Coalitions
Legislative Priority
Retain all
current DDA clients and maintain their services.
DDA’s
2021-2023 budget proposal eliminates services for 8,100 current DDA
clients. Some have depended on these services for over 30 years. These cuts will
annihilate the already significantly underfunded systems for these most
vulnerable individuals and put them at risk for isolation, loss of skills,
unemployment, crisis hospitalizations, homelessness, incarceration, and
institutionalization. These DDA funding cuts violate the basic responsibilities
of government to protect its citizens.
Statewide
Parent Coalitions continue to recognize these serious
concerns for future funding
and support:
Fund
DDA services for 14,000 eligible individuals on DDA’s no-paid services list.
Increase
the number of individual and community direct-service providers across the
state - lack of providers equals lack of service.
Provide
a living wage for all DD service providers.
Develop
and provide appropriate, sustainable community housing options for individuals
with developmental disabilities to meet their needs and that respect personal
choice.
